Thanks for stopping by! Here at the crib, you’ll find the work of Davy Rothbart and friends. Help yourself to Life cereal, and there’s plenty of Olde E in the fridge.
Still got plenty of work to do on this site, but the store is fully up & running, plus some of the other rooms, so poke around and make yourself at home!
According to Cathy Hoang of This American Life, Davy’s hilarious piece about his morning TV show appearances during FOUND Magazine’s Slapdance Across America tour will be re-broadcast the weekend of December 29,30, and 31, as part of an episode called “Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time.” You can pick up a copy of the double-CD with all of Davy’s This American Life appearances for just 10 bucks at the 21 Balloons store. And on our Articles page, you can check out “Nibble, Lick, Suck, and Feast” as it appeared originally in The Believer.
For two weeks in July, 2006, Davy followed his friends’ band Rise Against around the country on Warped Tour with fellow filmmakers David Meiklejohn and Rachel Dengiz. Geffen Records has just announced that their film “How We Survive” will be released December 5th on a Rise Against DVD called Generation Lost. We’ve got a few great outtakes and the full story of how the movie came to be right HERE. (with link to 21 balloons page)
We’ve just gotten word that Davy’s book of short stories, The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas, will be published in Italy in 2007. Dario Morgante, an editor at CONIGLIO, based in Rome, has been the driving force behind the project; he says he stumbled across the book at an independent bookstore in Bristol, U.K., and was dazzled. Plenty more Lone Surfer news here. Order a signed copy of the English-language version with a personal inscription from our 21 Balloons store.
We’re thrilled to announce the release of Anvil’s striking debut, New Music for Virtuosos, on November 7th! The early buzz has been incredible–rave reviews in XLR8R, Real Detroit Weekly, and The San Francisco Bay Guardian. What’s been most exciting to us is the enthusiastic response from all corners; punk rockers, hip-hop heads, ravers–everyone seems to be feelin’ this shit. Hit the 21 Balloons Anvil page to listen to sample tracks and find out more about the album, or jump to the 21 Balloons store and pick up a copy now! (with links)
